Finding a good fit external trainer

When considering using an external trainer, how does the presentation style and personality of the trainer rank alongside other considerations like relevant course content, proven track record and pricing? How do you choose someone who is going to be a ‘good fit’ for your organisation and the group of potential delegates?

Yesterday, I was visiting a prospective client who is considering using our accuracy skills training and I was asked about the trainers who would be delivering the programmes: “We are quite fussy and we need to make sure we get a good fit with who we are as an organisation”.

I understand this entirely and I was aware that my simply saying “all our accuracy consultants are extremely experienced, highly engaging and hugely knowledgeable” doesn’t really help me to convey why I think we can provide a trainer who is a ‘good fit’.

In fact, most of my clients don’t ask about the trainer at all, which I find surprising, even shocking! It is always something I factor in when considering who should deliver our programmes for individual clients. Each organisation has its own culture and its own identity – it’s important that course participants readily accept and engage with the expert delivering the training.

How did I answer the question from my client yesterday? Well, I have plenty of previous delegates’ testimonials about each and every one of our trainers. And I genuinely believe in the quality of all our Accuracy Consultants (who are carefully recruited in the first place and very much part of the team here at Scott Bradbury) but beyond just being ‘reassuring’, I asked my client to take a look at our ‘Accuracy Consultants’ webpage. Here she can see and hear for herself, our trainers talking about our Developing an Eye for Accuracy programme. Take a look and choose for yourself. Who would you choose? You can see them all here:

Who are you drawn to and why? What do you look for? I’m curious to know!
